SEO Audit Services That Find What Blocks You in Google and in AI Answers

The short answer

Our SEO audit service checks how Google and the AI engines actually read your site, then tells you what to fix first. One analyst fetches your pages as Googlebot, GPTBot, ClaudeBot and PerplexityBot, checks crawl, index, schema, llms.txt and page structure, runs 40 buyer prompts across five engines, and delivers a 10 to 12 page report with a ranked fix list within 24 hours. $399 per domain, credited against your first month if you hire us to fix it.

Delivered within 24 hours Published price, no quote call Credited against month one
19.2%of websites return no usable page to ChatGPT's crawler, while only 3.8% block it in robots.txt
48.4%publish an llms.txt file, so most sites still leave AI engines to guess
27.7%score below 70 out of 100 and are not yet AI-ready by our threshold
80.3%of sites serve a full page to GPTBot, against 93.9% for Googlebot

All four numbers come from our AI Readiness Report, built from 2,012 website scans and updated monthly. They are the reason an SEO audit that only looks at Google now misses a third of the problem.

Written by Ran Yosef, Founder and CEO of Arobis AI, who runs the audit on every client site himself.

What is included

What our SEO audit services include

SEO audit services examine how search engines crawl, index, understand and rank a website, and return a ranked list of fixes. Ours covers six layers: crawl and index health, page clarity, structured data and entity, AI crawler access, authority and citation sources, and the conversion path. Every layer ends in a finding, a severity and an owner.

Crawl and index health

We read robots.txt line by line, test every XML sitemap, and check canonicals, noindex tags, redirect chains, 404s and crawl depth. Then we fetch your key pages as Googlebot and compare what it gets with what a browser gets. A page that renders for people and not for bots is the single most common finding we write up.

Page clarity and on-page

Titles, H1s, heading order, duplicate pages, thin pages and two pages fighting for one search term. We check whether each important page answers its question in the first two sentences, because that is the passage Google and the AI engines lift. Internal links get their own map: which money pages have few links pointing in, and which posts link nowhere.

Structured data and entity

Every JSON-LD block is parsed and validated, not eyeballed. We check that Organization, Service, Product, FAQ and Breadcrumb markup exist where they should, that they agree with the visible text, and that your company is described the same way on your site, LinkedIn, Crunchbase and the directories AI engines read. Conflicting founding dates or taglines cost citations.

AI crawler access and llms.txt

We fetch your pages as GPTBot, ClaudeBot and PerplexityBot and record what each one receives. Many sites allow them in robots.txt and still return a blank shell because of bot protection or client-side rendering. We also check for an llms.txt file, what it points to, and whether your most-cited pages are in it.

Authority and citation sources

Backlinks still matter, so we review referring domains, anchor text and toxic patterns. The newer part is the source map: the third-party pages that Google's AI Overviews, ChatGPT and Perplexity cite when they answer questions in your category, and whether you appear on any of them. That list becomes your placement plan.

Conversion path

An audit that lifts traffic to a page nobody converts on is wasted work. We walk the path a buyer takes from a search result or an AI answer to your form: pricing clarity, proof on the page, form friction, and whether the page says who it is for. Findings here are short, and they usually ship in a day.

The technical layer

Technical SEO audit service: what we check for Google, and what we add for AI search

A technical SEO audit service checks the parts of a site that decide whether a search engine can fetch, render, index and rank a page. The classic list has not changed much in a decade. What changed is who is reading: four AI crawlers now fetch your pages too, and they fail in ways Googlebot does not.

THE GOOGLE LAYER

What every good technical audit checks

  • Crawlability: robots.txt rules, crawl traps, parameter URLs and orphan pages
  • Indexing: canonical tags, noindex, duplicate titles, soft 404s and sitemap accuracy
  • Rendering: whether the page Googlebot receives contains the text a browser shows
  • Speed and stability: Core Web Vitals from field data, not a one-off lab run
  • Mobile: layout, tap targets and content parity with desktop
  • Architecture: click depth to money pages and internal link flow

We report these against Google Search Console and a full crawl of the site, so every claim has a URL next to it.

THE AI SEARCH LAYER

What we add that most audits skip

  • Live fetches as GPTBot, ClaudeBot, PerplexityBot and Google-Extended, with the response each one got
  • Bot protection and JavaScript rendering checked separately, since robots.txt tells only part of the story
  • llms.txt present, accurate and pointing at the pages you want quoted
  • Answer-first structure on the pages AI engines lift passages from
  • Entity consistency across your site, LinkedIn, Crunchbase and directories
  • Your result on 40 buyer prompts across ChatGPT, Gemini, Claude, Perplexity and Google AI Overviews, run in clean sessions

The crawler part comes from the same engine as our free checker. The prompt part is run by hand. Our guide to what AI crawlers actually read explains why both are needed.

Why the AI layer matters now

Why an SEO audit that stops at Google misses a third of the problem

Buyers now read the answer instead of the results. Pew Research found Google users clicked a regular result on 8% of visits when an AI summary appeared, against 15% without one. If your site cannot be read and quoted by the engines writing those summaries, a perfect Google audit still leaves you invisible.

From our own scans. Across 2,012 website scans in the AI Readiness Report, 23.5% of websites block at least one of the four AI engines on a live fetch, and 4.1% block all four. Gemini can read more websites than any other AI engine: 93.9% of sites served a full page to Googlebot, against 92.0% for PerplexityBot, 82.8% for ClaudeBot and 80.3% for GPTBot. Almost none of those site owners know it, because robots.txt looks fine.
  1. The blank-page problem19.2% of websites returned no usable page when fetched as GPTBot, yet only 3.8% disallow it in robots.txt. The gap is bot protection and client-side rendering.
  2. The silent file48.4% of sites publish an llms.txt. The rest leave AI engines to pick pages on their own, and they often pick the wrong ones.
  3. The passage testAI engines quote the sentence that answers the question. A page that buries its answer under a 300-word intro gets read and not cited.
  4. The entity testThree different company descriptions across your site, LinkedIn and a directory read as three weak sources instead of one strong one.
  5. The click that never comesSeer Interactive measured organic click-through on informational queries with an AI Overview falling from 1.76% to 0.61%. The audit has to ask whether you are inside the answer, not only below it.
How it runs

How the audit runs, from order to fix list

Most agency audits take three to five weeks because they are scoped by the hour. Ours is scoped by the finding: a fixed set of checks, run the same way every time, by the person who will also do the fixes if you ask. That is how one domain ships in 24 hours.

01
Day 0

Order and brief

You send the domain, up to three competitors and the buyer questions you care about. No site access or tracking install is needed for the audit itself; we work from the outside, the way a search engine does.

  • One domain per audit
  • Three named competitors
  • Your five money prompts, or we propose them
02
Hours 0 to 6

Crawl and AI fetch

A full crawl of the site, then live fetches of your key pages as Googlebot, GPTBot, ClaudeBot and PerplexityBot. Every JSON-LD block is parsed. Sitemaps, canonicals, redirects and llms.txt are tested, not assumed.

  • Response recorded per crawler
  • Schema validated page by page
  • Internal link map of money pages
03
Hours 6 to 16

Buyer prompt runs

40 buyer prompts across ChatGPT, Gemini, Claude, Perplexity and Google AI Overviews, in logged-out or temporary sessions with repeat sampling. We log who gets named instead of you and which sources each engine cited. The rules are published in how we measure AI visibility.

  • Clean sessions only
  • Share of voice against three competitors
  • Every cited source logged
04
Within 24 hours

Report and ranked fix list

A 10 to 12 page report and a 30-minute walkthrough call. Each finding carries a severity, the pages it affects, the fix, who should do it and roughly how long it takes. The order is impact divided by effort, so the first week of work is obvious.

  • Critical, warning and note tiers
  • Owner and effort on every fix
  • Before numbers saved for the re-check
05
Optional, 60 to 90 days

We ship the fixes

If you hire us on the Foundation plan, the $399 is credited in full against your first month and the fix list becomes the first sprint: schema, crawler access, llms.txt, structure, internal links and the page rewrites. First new citations usually land within 30 to 60 days; recommendation changes on core buyer prompts within 60 to 90.

  • Audit credited against month one
  • You approve every change before it ships
  • Full re-run at day 90

Free SEO checker vs agency audit vs Arobis AI

All three have a place. A free checker is the right first step. A full agency audit is right when the site is large and the budget is five figures. Ours sits in between on price and ahead on the AI layer.

Two reports, one order

SEO audit or AI visibility audit: which one do you need?

Both, and you get both in the same $399 report. They answer different questions, so we describe them on two pages.

THIS PAGE

The SEO audit: can they read you?

  • Can Googlebot and the four AI crawlers fetch and render your pages?
  • Is the site indexed, canonicalized and structured the way you think it is?
  • Does your schema validate and does your entity read the same everywhere?
  • Which pages answer the buyer's question in the first two sentences?

Findings here are fixes to your site. Most ship in days, and the internal linking case study shows what one of them did on its own.

THE OTHER PAGE

The AI visibility audit: do they recommend you?

  • On 40 buyer prompts, which engines name you, and in what position?
  • Who gets named instead, and on which questions?
  • Which third-party sources do the engines cite in your category?
  • How accurately do they describe what you do and who you serve?

Findings here are mostly about sources outside your site. The method and scope are on the AI visibility audit page.

Fit check

Who this SEO audit service is for, and who it is not

We do our best work on sites where buyers compare vendors before they talk to sales. If that is not you, we will say so before you pay.

✓A good fit

  • B2B SaaS and software companiesOur core. Every check is built around how software buyers research and how AI engines summarize software.
  • Considered-purchase B2BLogistics, contact centers, fintech, IT and professional services, where a shortlist decides the deal.
  • Sites that rank but do not get citedDecent Google traffic, absent from AI answers. The audit usually finds the reason in the crawler access map.
  • Teams with a developer on callSomeone who can ship schema, robots and rendering fixes within a week or two of the walkthrough.

✕Not the right fit

  • Local service businessesMap pack and reviews drive those results. A local SEO specialist will serve you better.
  • Ecommerce catalogs with thousands of templatesYou need a multi-week enterprise crawl, not a 24-hour single-domain audit.
  • Anyone who wants a guaranteeRankings and AI answers change run to run. We report rates and fix lists, never promised positions.
  • Sites that cannot changeIf no one can edit the site for the next quarter, buy the free check and come back when they can.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

What are SEO audit services?

SEO audit services are a paid review of how search engines crawl, index, understand and rank a website, delivered as a ranked list of fixes. A good one covers technical health, on-page clarity, structured data, authority and conversion. Ours adds the AI search layer: live fetches as GPTBot, ClaudeBot and PerplexityBot, llms.txt, entity consistency and 40 buyer prompts across five AI engines.

How much does an SEO audit cost?

Published prices run from about $249 for a self-serve report to $1,000 to $5,000 for a comprehensive agency audit and $5,000 to $15,000 for an independent consultant on enterprise scope. Percepture's technical audit starts at $2,500. Ours is $399 per domain, $299 each for three or more, and it is credited in full against your first month if you start a retainer within 60 days.

How long does an SEO audit take?

Agency audits commonly take three to five weeks; OuterBox publishes 3 to 5 weeks for theirs. Ours is delivered within 24 hours of payment because the checks are fixed, the crawler layer is automated and one analyst runs the prompt layer by hand. Payment is by PayPal invoice, and the walkthrough call is booked for the day the report lands.

What is included in a technical SEO audit?

Crawlability (robots.txt, crawl traps, orphan pages), indexing (canonicals, noindex, duplicates, sitemaps), rendering (what the bot receives versus what a browser shows), Core Web Vitals from field data, mobile parity and site architecture. Our technical SEO audit service adds the same checks for four AI crawlers, plus llms.txt and schema validation page by page.

Can ChatGPT do an SEO audit?

Partly. ChatGPT can read a page you paste and list on-page issues, and it is useful for that. It cannot fetch your site as Googlebot, test your sitemaps and redirects, parse every JSON-LD block, read Search Console, or run 40 buyer prompts in clean sessions and log who was named instead of you. It also cannot tell you what it received when its own crawler fetched your pages, which is the finding that matters most.

What is the difference between an SEO audit and an AI visibility audit?

An SEO audit asks whether Google and the AI engines can read, index and trust your site, and returns fixes to your pages. An AI visibility audit asks whether those engines recommend you when buyers ask, and returns a map of who gets named and which sources they cite. Our $399 report contains both; this page describes the SEO layer and the AI visibility audit page describes the prompt layer.

Do you implement the fixes?

Yes, if you want us to. On the Foundation plan ($2,500 a month, 3-month minimum) the audit is credited against your first month and the fix list becomes the first sprint. You approve every change before it ships. If you only want the audit, your own team or developer can work from the fix list; every item names the page, the change and the effort.

Do I need to give you access to my site or analytics?

Not for the audit. We work from the outside, the way a search engine does: a crawl, live fetches as each crawler, public schema and the engines' own answers. If you can share Google Search Console read access, the index and canonical report gets sharper, but the audit does not wait for it.

How often should a site be audited?

Once properly, then after any platform change, redesign, migration or bot-protection change, and at least once a year. The AI layer moves faster: crawler behavior and the sources engines cite shift within months, which is why our retainers re-run the prompt set at day 90 and track it weekly on the Growth plan.

What tools do you use during the audit?

Our own crawler and AI readiness engine, the one behind the free checker and the 2,012-scan report; Google Search Console when you share it; Ahrefs for referring domains and anchors; GA4 when available for the conversion path; and manual, clean-session runs on ChatGPT, Gemini, Claude, Perplexity and Google AI Overviews. No finding is reported from a tool's export without a person checking the URL.
